Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art Ancient Lyre Symbol brooch in gold tone metal.
It has a handmade look that mimics how the original upon which it is based would also look. The main feature is a circle that doesn't quite close at the top with a small circle cut out. Extending from each side are symbols that have a musical connection, presumably a lyre. Most MMA jewelry is based upon real artifacts and were made in limited editions. Collectors appreciate their unique designs and historical context.
The pin is approximately 1.25 inches tall by 2.75 inches wide with a horizontal pin back.
Condition: It is in good vintage condition with normal light scuffing to the metal surfaces. Please see pics for details.
Marks: It is stamped on a cartouche, "1991 M.M.A." with the copyright symbol.
