Although small,5x7 this picture is mesmerizing, truly I just live looking at it. It speaks to me in so many ways. Painted on canvas in 17 th century by Carlo Dolce of Florence ,Italy, this is his moment of fame that lasts forever. The original was bought at auction in 1927 by John and MableRingling, it not resides in Sarasota ,Fla at the Ringling Museum which is a diff kind of museum, this place exhibits it's artworks in private decorated spaces like a personal bedroom or other space where this picture was painted to hang in, the parlor or family room. I'm sure I'd love to see the original in person.
