This looks like a hand-painted reinterpretation of Vincent van Gogh’s “The Road Menders” (1889) — but with noticeable stylistic variations that show the copy.
The painting shows a village square filled with massive plane trees whose twisting trunks dominate the composition. Beneath them, workers are repairing the road, lifting stones and placing large rectangular slabs. On the left side, a small cluster of buildings appears, along with two women in traditional clothing. A street lamp and small architectural details anchor the scene.
This mixture of daily labor, ordinary villagers, and towering trees creates a contrast between the rhythms of life and the stability of nature.The trees are exaggerated—almost expressive, with swirling, muscular forms.
